Star-Studded Drama 'Jiri Mountain' Halts Their Filming Due to COVID-19

Due to the rapid spread of coronavirus in Seoul, many ongoing Korean drama shoots were put on hold to take preventive precautions against the said virus.

One of the most-anticipated drama, "Jiri Mountain," with its star-stduded cast Jun Ji Hyun, Jun Ji Hoon, Sung Dong il, and Oh Jung Se halts their filming due to the pandemic. In a recent report on Dec. 8, tvN's upcoming drama is temporarily suspended due to the fast growing cases of Covid-19 in South Korea.

The production team of the said drama announced, "The spread of the coronavirus in Korea has been severe, and to prevent this, the whole 'Jirisan' (Korean title) team has decided to take a short break until Dec. 20."

"Jiri Mountain" is a mystery drama about rangers who works to save people at Jiri Mountain. Seo Yi Kang will be the character of actress Jun Ji Hyun, she is the best ranger at the Jiri Mountain. She also knows everything about the area. Opposite to her character is Kang Hyun Jo, a new ranger at Jiri Mountain. He graduated from the military academy and was once an army captain, but there is a mysterious story about him that he does not want to tell anyone. Kang Hyun Jo will be played by the Princess Hours and Kingdom star Jun Ji Hoon.

They will need each other's help to work hand in hand in saving people's lives around the mountain of Jiri.

Joining them is the versatile actor Oh Jung Se who showed a amazing performance in the hit drama "It's Okay to Not Be Okay." He will be portraying another ranger named Jung Goo Young, who believes that in order to save others, he must save himself first.

Veteran actor Song Dong Il will also be in the drama and will be playing the character of Jo Dae Jin, he is the head of the Haedong Branch Office in Mountain Jiri. Half of his life he dedicated it as a ranger, and was known with his nickname as the "Mount Jiri Man." He is a simple and responsible man who cares about the mountain trekkers but also with his co-workers.

"Jiri Mountain" will be directed by Lee Eung Bok. Its storyline was penned by the Kingdom writer Kum Eun Hye. The team already started shooting last September, but was suspended due to the ongoing pandemic. They are also working together with the Korea National Park Service with their production. The forthcoming drama is also expected to help boost South Korea's tourism.

Meanwhile, viewers are expected to see the drama in the early months of 2021. The updates and details about the upcoming drama are yet to be announced to public.
