In light of the success of the new Netflix series "Sweet Home," one of its cast Song Kang sits for an interview.
Previously, Song Kang participated in a video call interview with Sports Chosun and was asked various questions regarding their new series "Sweet Home." He also humbly talked about his experience in being part of the thriller series. The 26-year-old actor has already been given a new nickname as the "son of Netflix" because of the huge success of his dramas "Love Alarm" and "Sweet Home," which were both released on the streaming platform.
Song Kang started when he was casted, he did not know about the 30 billion won ($27 million) budget allotted for the drama, and he suddenly felt a lot of pressure on how he could better portray his character as Hyun Soo in the drama. He continued, "I had a lot of thoughts about my character because I needed to show both good and evil. I questioned myself, how could I express his evil and lonely sides effectively? But I realized that I should focus on doing the simple method, I'll show my most introverted side when portraying Hyun Soo while showing my vengeful side when playing the evil Hyun Soo."
Regarding his performance in front of a green screen, since the show used many CGI effects, the actor said, "Before, I have seen actors do it a lot in videos, but when I already tried it myself, it was enjoyable. I also needed to focus a lot since I am acting alone in front of the green screen. So if I had to shoot using a green screen, I would already start preparing in advance for a week."
Song Kang also complimented his co-star in the series, Lee Do Hyun, who is just a year younger than him (Song Kang was born in 1994, and Lee Doo Hyun was born in 1995). He expressed, "We are not just colleagues, but as actors, we had a good and strong connection," Song Kang continued, "In 'Sweet Home,' we have a kind of relationship where both of us are using each other, but I would like to work with him again in a project where we could combine our energy and work together as partners. It would be nice if we could portray roles as close friends, just like Hye Young and Sun Oh in 'Love Alarm.'"
He also shared, "Every time we are on set, we complement each other a lot, and it gives off a great atmosphere. Instead of trying to stand out, I tend to focus on my character Hyun Soo, to be able to show his sense of justice and his wish to save the people."
Meanwhile, Song Kang previously shared that Leonardo DiCaprio was his role model, but during the interview, he admitted that he was recently impressed by Hollywood actor Tom Hardy, "I have watched 'Legend' by Tom Hardy, and I thought he was playing as twins, but I found out on the second half of the movie that he was not, his role was two completely different people, and I was really impressed by that, and now I know why he had achieved such a lot of recognition and appreciation as an actor. From that, I think he became my new role model."
