"When the Camellia Blooms "actress Gong Hyo Jin is currently in talks to star in a Netflix original drama!
Media outlets reported on Feb. 9 that a source from the drama industry announced that actress Gong Hyo Jin is offered to portray the character of a scriptwriter, who writes makjang dramas in "Woman of Crisis," which is an upcoming Netflix original series. For those who are not familiar with makjang, it an over-exaggerated drama with extravagant and over-the-top plots.
Upon hearing the news that has been circulating online, Management SOOP, Gong Hyo Jin's agency gave their response stating that Gong Hyo Jin was indeed offered to star in the Netflix original "Woman of Crisis" and she's positively reviewing the offer.
Gong Hyo Jin's Casting Offer in "Woman of Crisis"
If the actress considers the casting offer, she is said to star as the scriptwriter Kim Ma Ri who is known for creating makjang dramas. Kim Ma Ri is famous in her line of work. Creating the drama's provoking setups, fast storytelling, incomparable villains, and extravagant revenge stories it is no doubt that her creations instantly become a massive hit that averages over 35 percent in viewership ratings. Kim Ma Ri is the number 1 writer in the industry and her dramas easily get confirmed for broadcast just because she's the creator.
"Woman of Crisis" will feature the common elements of a makjang drama which the good but frustrating female lead, the caring second-generation chaebol, the revelation of one's birth at a very crucial moment, and of course, we wouldn't want to miss the iconic "kimchi slap" moments. The viewers will be fully satisfied with this drama!

"Woman of Crisis" will be penned by scriptwriter Kim Soo Ah who also created on "I Like It Hot" and "Whatcha Wearin'?" and directed by Lee Won Suk who previously handled "How to Use Guys with Secret Tips."
If Gong Hyo Jin decides to star in this drama, this will be considered as her comeback project in two years since her last drama in KBS 2TV, "When the Camellia Blooms" and the film "The Most Ordinary Love."

She is famously known for portraying the leading role in the film "Crush and Blush" (2008), as well as for her popular television series "Sang Doo! Let's Go to School" (2003), "Thank You" (2007), "Pasta" (2010), "The Greatest Love" (2011), "Master's Sun" (2013), "It's Okay, That's Love" (2014), "The Producers" (2015), "Don't Dare to Dream" (2016), and "When the Camellia Blooms" (2019).
Gong Hyo Jin is dubbed as the queen of romantic comedies due to her successful portrayals in her romantic-comedy dramas.
