The much-awaited KBS 2TV historical drama "River Where the Moon Rises" finally made its premiere on TV last February 15!
"River where the Moon Rises" is a historical drama starring Kim So Hyun, Ji Soo, Lee Ji Hoon, and Choi Yu Hwa. The drama is a remake of the classic Goguryeo folk tale and tells the famous love story of two characters, Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal.
"River Where the Moon Rises" Actors and their Respective Roles
Kim So Hyun stars as Pyeonggang, who was born a princess but raised as a soldier. She is strong-willed and very ambitious. She desires to become the first-ever woman to lead Goguryeo and will stop at nothing in achieving her dreams.
Princess Pyeonggang is aware of the struggles and hardships she will go through to achieve her goals; that is why she plans her every move. But one day, her plans were disturbed when she meets the peace-loving man On Dal (Ji Soo), whose only goal in life is to live peacefully with those around him.
On Dal is the exact opposite of the ambitious princess. Both characters will soon find themselves falling for each other. On Dal, on the other hand, will end up forsaking his principles in order to keep his one true love safe.
Kim So Hyun will showcase her acting prowess as she takes on another role as Pyeonggang's mother, Queen Yeon, while Kang Ha Neul will make his special appearance as General On Hyup, On Dal's father.

"River Where the Moon Rises" Airs first Episode With High Viewership Ratings
"River Where the Moon Rises" aired their first episode on February 15, and according to Nielsen Korea, the drama recorded average nationwide ratings of 6.5 and 9.4 percent. The score that the drama got was higher than the premiere ratings of "Royal Secret Agent," which is the previous historical drama that aired in the same time slot in KBS. Though Royal Secret Agent" started with ratings of 5.0 percent, they went on with the drama's conclusion on a personal best of 14.0 percent.
February 15 was considered as a successful night for KBS overall since; in an earlier time slot, the new revenge-themed drama starred by Lee So Yeon and Choi Yeo Jin titled "Miss Monte-Cristo" premiered to the rating score of 14.6 percent. This is way higher than the premiere ratings of the previous daily drama in this time slot, "A Man in a Veil," which is (10.4 percent).
Moving forward, tvN's "L.U.C.A.: The Beginning" garnered an average of 5.348 percent, a slight drop from their score last week. And JTBC's "She Would Never Know" got the of 1.816 percent, a slight rise from last week.
