About the "Goo Hara Act"
Goo Ho In applied a petition to revise South Korea's inheritance law, which is to prevent the parents, who neglected their responsibilities to take care and provide for their children, to claim an inheritance from them. This was triggered when their estranged mother re-appeared and contacted them claiming a share of Hara's inheritance.
The petition was successful, after garnering 100,000 signatures in the span of 30 days. Her brother then pushed the legislature to introduce the law in Goo Hara's name; which is the "Goo Hara Act."
The "Goo Hara Act" have passed the National Assembly and Goo Ho In's lawsuit took place before the act passed. Therefore, his lawsuit proceeded under the current legal system. Without the "Goo Hara Act," their absentee mother will gain access to some of the late singer's estate.
