Lee Isaac Chung Talks About "Minari"
In a recent interview with Time magazine, "Minari" director spoke about his inspiration for the award-winning movie.
Lee Isaac Chung shared that it is based on his own experience - living as the son of immigrants who moved from Korea to Arkansas. Moreover, he revealed that his father has a fascination with the Western culture and "felt like America was a miraculous place."
"His family had lost a lot of land during the Korean War and the Japanese occupation. That affected him a lot as a kid. He always felt like he needed to come to the U.S. and get land. It's an old Hollywood pioneer story he was working on," he furthered.
Creating the movie, the award-winning director wanted to make sure that it would depict the Asian-American experience during the '80s and wanted it to be as "authentic and accurate" as possible.
