Confirmed! Han Ye Ri, Yoo Jae Myung, and Um Tae Goo to Star in New OCN Drama 'Hometown'

Han Ye Ri, Um Tae Goo, and "Vicenzo" actor Yoo Jae Myung are set to appear in an upcoming mystery drama, "Hometown."

In a recent report, a representative from OCN revealed that the new series, which is set to debut sometime in mid-2021, confirmed that the trio will be leading the forthcoming mystery drama.

Earlier this month, Saram Entertainment shared that the "Minari" actress is in talks to appear in the new OCN drama.

"Han Ye-ri has been proposed to appear in OCN's new drama "Hometown," and she is positively considering it," the agency said.

The same goes with the "Itaewon Class" actor whose home agency, Ace Factory, mentioned that the 47-year-old star might possibly accept the role in "Hometown."

"Actor Yoo Jae Myung is positively considering to appear in the forthcoming OCN drama 'Hometown' after receiving an offer as part of the cast," a representative revealed.

"Hometown" Characters and Synopsis

Kicking off the year with a loud bang, OCN unveiled its line up of exciting new shows for 2021 - this includes the mystery-thriller drama "Hometown."

Set in 1999, the story follows the lives of Choi Hyung, a police detective portrayed by Yoo Jae Myung, who is tasked to investigate strange murder case that occured in a small rural town.

Amid his case, he finds himself still grieving for his wife's death and was consumed by guilt for not being able to save her.

Strangely, Choi Hyung began to speculate that the case assigned to him had a connection to his family, and at the same time a terrorist incident.

Meanwhile, Han Ye Ri will play the role of Jo Jung Hyun, a social outcast due to his family's reputation.

Jo Jung Hyun's problem stems with his older brother's crimes and was dubbed as a family of terrorists. Despite the social stigma and accusation surrounding their family, she remained strong and courageous enough to endure the life's challenges.

As for Um Tae Goo, he has been casted to portray the role of Jo Kyung Ho, a prisoner who is serving a life sentence for being the culprit behind a terror attack.

Due to this, he was also restrained from communicating with the outside world.

Following the announcement of it's powerhouse cast, multiple reports mentioned that "Hometown" is set to air six episodes.

Aside from "Minari" and her upcoming mystery-thriller drama, Han Ye Ri has landed several notable projects, this includes the 2016 film "A Quiet Dream," directed by Korean-Chinese filmmaker Zhang Lu.

Moreover, she also appeared in the sports drama movie "As One" where she bagged PaekSang Arts Award for Best New Actress in Film

Han Ye Ri is not the only cast member of "Hometown" who is considered an award winner.

Yoo Jae Myung made acting debut in the 2001 film "The Last Witness." After a series of supporting characters, he scored his breakthrough role in "Reply 1988," which is said to be the highest rated drama in Korean cable television history.

Since then, he has landed major roles, such as the critically acclaimed shows "Prison Playbook" and "The Good Wife, Stranger."

He received his first recognition after he won the Best Supporting Actor in 6th APAN Star Awards for his performance in the 2018 drama "Life."
