The "Island's" Debut to Possibly Pushed Back after Seo Ye Ji Drops Out from the OCN Drama
Back in March, multiple outlets cited that the 31-year-old A-lister is set to appear in the webtoon-based fantasy exorcism drama alongside ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo and Kim Nam Gil.
In the forthcoming OCN drama, the controversial actress will play the role of Won Mi Ho, the only daughter and the sole heiress of the Daehan Group, whose family comes to Jeju after being targeted by goblins.
Slated to have two seasons with ten episodes each, it has been reported that the shooting for "Island" will start this spring and will be located in Jeju Island.
Aside from this, the fantasy drama, helmed by Bae Jong and written by Jang Yoon Mi, is set to premiere in the second half of 2021 but might push back to July or August due to Seo Ye Ji stepping down from the "Island."
Kim Jung Hyun and SNSD Seohyun's Controversy
The news comes after the "Lawless Lawyer" star has been involved in the scandal surrounding Kim Jung Hyun and SNSD's Seohyun.
To recall, both are lead stars in the 2018 Kdrama "The Time," where they portray on-screen partners Cheon Soo Ho and Seol Ji Hyun.
After Kim Jung Hyun's controversy resurfaced regarding his alleged rude treatment towards his co-star, Seo Ye Ji has been accused of being the mastermind behind the actor's misbehavior.
A series of text messages from the 31-year-old actress and the "Crash Landing on You" star, which was her then-boyfriend, was released by Dispatch that contains Seo Ye Ji forbidding the actor any "physical contact" with Seohyun.
Aside from this, he also instructed Kim Jung Hyun to ask the writers to trim down romantic scenes with her leading lady.
Gold Medalist Released a Statement Regarding the Conversation Between Kim Jung Hyun and Seo Ye Ji
Amid the rumors, her agency, Gold Medalist, initially denied the issues and said they were "looking into" the matter.
However, in a new report, the management officially released a statement addressing their client's involvement with the controversy.
They began their statement by apologizing for the delay in their response.
In addition, Gold Management also mentioned that they have confirmed with Kim Jung Hyun that the actress was not behind the recent issue adding that he will express "his own intentions on sharing his official position" but "would take time" to release his statement "as there are many overlapping issues."
Moreover, the agency also apologized for the inconvenience that caused her upcoming movie "Recalled" and not appearing at the press conference last April 13.
With the conversation released by Dispatch, the management mentioned that it was a "lover's quarrel" between the two.
"Seo Ye Ji also told him 'well then you don't do that either,' and the two exchanged conversations mixed with jealousy about skinship with others. This can be seen as a common love quarrel between an actor and actress who are in a relationship while also working in the same industry."
