Youn Yuh Jung's Oscar 2021 Moment
The 73-year-old veteran actress quietly left her homeland earlier this year in preparation for her Oscar 2021 nomination.
The recognition was after her astounding performance as the unconventional grandmother named Soonja in the movie "Minari," directed by Lee Isaac Chung.
In April, she made the whole of South Korea proud for bagging the Best Supporting Actress award, beating her fellow nominees, including award-winning actresses Glenn Close, Olivia Coleman, Amanda Seyfried, and Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova.
Youn Yuh Jung's Oscar win made history as the first-ever Korean actress to take home a prestigious Academy Awards trophy.
Not only that, she also went viral after delivering a heartwarming speech that includes her fangirling moment with Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt.
At the time, the veteran actress can't help but gush over the "Moneyball" actor as she expressed her complete admiration.
"Mr. Brad Pitt, finally nice to meet you - where were you while we were filming in person?" she mentioned, adding, "Let me pull myself together" before saying her moving acceptance speech."
Youn Yuh Jung Gets Real about Her Thoughts on Hollywood
Following her Oscar win, the South Korea actress spoke about continuing her career overseas.
In her previous interview with NBC, Youn Yuh Jung revealed that she's not interested in the glitz and glam of Hollywood but looked up to the brightest stars, including her fellow Oscar nominee Glenn Close.
"When some project comes from America, people in Korea think I admire Hollywood. No, I don't admire Hollywood," she explained.
Interestingly, she revealed the reason for her going back and forth in the US.
The "Minari" star mentioned that it was because of her two sons who are currently living abroad and not because of career opportunities.

Her first-ever award was taking home the prestigious Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Leading Actress in 1971 for her movie "Fire Woman."
