Although the new KBS2 drama started slowly but surely, it managed to captivate the viewers' hearts with the heartwarming connection between the characters.
"Youth of May" Viewership Rating Hits its Highest
According to Nielsen Korea, the historical melodrama garnered an all-time high viewership of 5.2 percent nationwide ratings, breaking its own highest ratings so far.
To recall, "Youth of May" episode 3 holds the highest personal best of 4.0 and 5.1 percent.
As for its fellow Monday and Tuesday evening drama, "Doom at Your Service," featuring Seo In Guk and Park Bo Young, fell short in viewership rating.
tvN's newly released drama scored a recorded viewership rating of 3.194 percent, a slight decrease from its previous episode garnering 3.952 percent.

"Youth of May" Episode 6
Set in May 1980 that took place in one of the largest cities, Gwangju, the new Korean drama has been receiving a lot of attention from the public because of its impressive visuals and engaging storyline.

Marking the half of the series, "Youth of May" episode 6 offered a turn of events between Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun), Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si), and Lee Soo Ryun (Geum Sae Rok.)
Kim Myung Hee, who is attending Hee Tae and her best friend Soo Ryun's engagement, admitted her true feelings to Hee Tae, saying, "I don't want this May to pass by without you."
This prompted him to grab her hand and ran away from the engagement hall.
Viewers witnessed a touching and heartfelt scene between Hee Tae and Myung Hee after he told her that it's hard to miss each other, so he took one of her earrings to remind him of Myung Hee.
Tension between Hwang Hee Tae and His Father
"Youth of May" episode 6 also featured the tension between Hwang Hee Tae and his father, Hwang Gi Nam (Oh Man Suk).
After disappearing from the engagement party, Hwang Gi Nam barged into his son's room and slapped him. Moreover, he also threatened not to disappoint him in public ever again.
Despite Hwang Hee Tae and Kim Myung Hee keeping their relationship in private, Hwang Gi Nam managed to discover the duo's secret and told it to Lee Soo Ryun and Lee Soo Chan's parents.
There, Hwang Gi Nam promised Lee Chang Geun (Uhm Hyo Sub) to sort things out and continue with their family's agreement.

"Youth of May" episode 6 wrapped up with a shocking scene involving Kim Myung Hee.
After being escorted by Hwang Hee Tae on her way home, Kim Myung Hee was abducted by a group of men.
