Idol Pre-Production and Plot
Fans' anticipation rises higher as JTBC's new drama cast includes Cosmic Girls' Exy, EXID's Hani, Kwak Si Yang, and Kim Min Kyu.
"Idol" tells the story of an extremely underrated idol group called "Cotton Candy" who needs a single "success" in order to "disband," a very special way to bid goodbye to their failed dreams of becoming a big, well-known group.
The drama aims to show the side of this generation who fails life's challenges despite working hard to reach and pursue their dreams.
Filmmaker No Jong Chan, who directed "Personal Taste" and "Clean With Passion for Now," and writer Jung Yun Jeong, who is the brilliant mind behind "Bride of Habaek," are working together.

Ahn Hee Yeon, Kwak Si yang, and Kim Min Kyu also star in the drama, which raised viewers' expectations to the roof. They will surely add strength, variety, and visuals to the cast.
Ahn Hee Yeon, better known as Hani, is a member of the girl group EXID and will be playing the role of Kim Je Na, an idol who failed to become bigger despite being in her sixth year as an idol.
The singer-actress has appeared in several television series "The Spies Who Loved Me," "How to Be Thirty," and in an independent film "Adults Don't Know."

Meanwhile, Kwak Si Yang, an experienced actor, who received love for acting skills in 2015 tvN drama "Oh My Ghost," will be playing Cha Jae Hyeok, a Star Peace Representative in an entertainment company, in which "Cotton Candy" is involved. He also starred in "Chicago Typewriter" and "Fight For My Way."
Finally, rising actor Kim Min Kyu plays the role of Seo Ji Han, a member of the popular idol group Mars. The group belongs to the same entertainment group as "Cotton Candy."
He appeared in several hit dramas "Because This Is My First Life", "Queen: Love and War," and "So I Married the Anti-Fan." Fans believe that this will be his breakthrough.
Cosmic Girls' Exy will co-star as one of "Cotton Candy" members. Although she appeared in a television series "The Flatterer" in 2015, "Idol" will be her debut as a full-fledged actress.
As she is still active in the music industry, she is expected to show a different vibe while taking on a role as an actress.
As dramas with idol and music as a genre are undoubtedly loved by the viewers, fans can't hide their excitement to see these rising actors on the small screen.
"Idol" is slated to air on JTBC in the latter part of 2021.
