"The World of the Married" set the bar high for revenge family drama as lead stars Kim Hee Ae, Park Hae Joon, and Han So Hee gave an astounding performance as they portrayed individuals who were caught up in a forbidden romance.
The Friday and Saturday series, which is originally based on the British series "Doctor Foster," topped the ratings and hailed as the highest-rated drama in Korean cable TV history.
There's no doubt how "The World of the Married" dominated the airwaves - through their jaw-dropping scenes, talented cast down to captivating storyline that definitely got the fans all hooked up.
In the JTBC drama, the story centers around the almost perfect life of a well-respected doctor, Ji Sun Woo, played by Kim Hee Ae.
At first, it illustrates her happy marriage with her husband, Lee Tae Oh (Park Hae Joon), and their only son, Lee Joon Young (Jeon Jin Seo).
Unfortunately, things went south when Lee Tae Oh met the wealthy, young and beautiful Yeo Da Kyung (Han So Hee.)
The mega-hit K-drama managed to touch on a taboo issue by combining romance, family, thriller, a melodrama with a hint of extramarital affair all rolled into one drama.
Interestingly, this will also have a remake in the Philippines and is slated to premiere in the second half of 2021.

Kim Hee Ae
The list starts with the OG K-drama queen Kim Hee Ae.
"The Worth of the Married" is her comeback on the small screen, following the 2016 SBS series "Second to Last Love" opposite Ji Jin Hee.
After the hit K-drama, Kim Hee Ae took a quick break in 2021 but is set to return with two projects. She is rumored to lead the upcoming fantasy drama "Queen Maker" alongside Moon So Ri, Kwon Yool, and Koo Ja Sung.
Here, she is set to play the role of the girl boss Hwang Do Hee, a skilled career woman and one of the best in her field.
Aside from this, she also has a new movie, "The Moon," helmed by "Along with the Gods" director Kim Yong Hwa.
Park Hae Joon
The 45-year-old actor played the role of Dr. Ji Sun Woo's cheating husband, Lee Tae Oh, in the K-drama "The World of the Married."
After its huge success, he is set to star in a soon-to-be-released comedy-drama "I Haven't Done My Best Yet" with Kim Do Wan and more.
As for movies, Park Hae Joon recently starred in the mystery horror film "The 8th Night" but has a slew of the upcoming film, including Lee Byung Hun and Song Kang Ho's "Emergency Declaration," as well as "Mathematician in Wonderland" and "Jung Family's Farm."
Han So Hee
Thanks to "The World of the Married," Han So Hee became a household name and created a buzz in the industry with her astounding portrayal as the young mistress Yeo Da Kyung.
Now, she is taking the world by storm with her current K-drama "Nevertheless" with Song Kang.
Apart from this, she is set to work alongside the top-notch Hallyu stars.
In her upcoming drama "Hard Creature," she will be teamed up with Park Seo Joon as the two survived a catastrophic environment as they put their lives on the line to achieve the most basic happiness.
In addition, Han So Hee will also lead a new K-drama "My Name" with Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Hee Soo.
The list of her upcoming dramas goes on as the up-and-coming actress is also in talks to work with the "Kingdom" actor Ju Ji Hoon in the crime action film "Gentleman."
