'Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born' is already controversial due to censorship rumors. The series was allegedly supposed to feature Kim Tae Ri in a GL relationship, but the LGBTQ storyline was removed prior to the premiere. Fans have been very outspoken about it.

'Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born' "is based on a popular webcomic of the same name, and it follows the life of Jeongnyeon, a trainee at a local theatre company called Maeran Gukgeuk-dan, set in the 1950s post-Korean War. She achieves her dream of becoming one of South Korea's best female classical opera singers," 'Disney Plus' stated in its official synopsis. The series also stars Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, Jung Eun Chae, and Kim Yoon Hye.

The period musical premieres tomorrow at 9:20 PM KST on tvN and airs every Saturday and Sunday. The global audience can stream the series on Disney Plus.

Kim Tae Ri is a talented yet humble actress. In the 2022 interview with 'Korea JoongAng Daily,' she talked about acting in 'Alienoid Part 1.'

"I was thrilled, ecstatic, and honored. I rarely use the latter term because I don't want it to sound like my casting was the result of pure luck plopping right out of the sky, something that people [and the media] want me to say, just for the expression of it. Even for interviews in 'The Handmaiden' [2016], I tried hard not to use that word, but for this film, I was honored. I thought I was given way more credit than I deserve," she said.
