MBC's new drama "From Now On, Showtime!" (working title and literal translation) confirms "Homemade Love Story" actress Jin Ki Joo to appear in the drama as the female lead, together with "Cheese In The Trap" actor Park Hae Jin.
Jin Ki Joo to Star as Mysterious Police Officer in New MBC Drama
The 33-year-old actress recently starred as an interior designer in KBS2's melodrama "Homemade Love Story," with South Korean actor and singer Lee Jang Woo.
In the same year, the actress has been cast to play a mysterious police officer in new MBC drama "From Now On, Showtime!" with Park Hae Jin.
"From Now On, Showtime!" is a fantasy romantic-comedy drama that depicts the story of a fun-loving and perky magician and a frosty, uptight female police officer.
Park Hae Jin stars as Cha Cha Woong, a charismatic magician who has the ability to see and manipulate ghosts and supernatural beings.
On the other hand, Jin Ki Joo landed the role of mysterious and frigid police officer Go Seul Hae who hides a mysterious secret and unexpectedly gets involved in a frisky situation with Cha Cha Woong.
Go Seul Hae aims to work hard and do her best to be the top police officer while taming the fun and reckless magician Cha Cha Woong.
The uniquely interesting storyline and fresh combination of actors raise expectations and anticipation for the drama series.
Viewers look forward to seeing the two actors' chemistry and first meeting in the drama, and rooting for the magician and police officer's potential romance.
Jin Ki Joo, Her Previous Works, and New Drama
Jin Ki Joo debuted in 2015 with romance comedy drama "Second 20s."
Since then, she has been casted to play supporting roles in various dramas, such as "Splash Splash Love," "One More Happy Ending," "The Secret Life of My Secretary," "The Good Wife," "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," and "Misty."
She made her breakthrough acting performance in the 2018 South Korean drama "Come and Hug Me" with "My Roommate Is A Gumiho" star Jang Ki Yong.
Jin Ki Joo also impressed the viewers with her acting prowess in the drama film "Little Forest" with "The Handmaiden" actress Kim Tae Ri and "Reply 1988" actor Ryu Jun Yeol.
"From Now On, Showtime!" is her first 2021 drama series after "Homemade Love Story" ended earlier this year.
The actress is expected to show a different side of her as an actress as she takes on the role of a police officer who is filled with passion and determination.
'From Now On, Showtime!' and What We Know for Now
Director Lee Hyung Min, the genius mind who directed hit dramas "Ms. Temper and Nam Jung Gi," "Bad Boy," "I'm Sorry, I Love You," and "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon"; and "Mystic Pop-Up Bar" writer Ha Yoon Ah, will work together for the new drama "From Now On, Showtime!".
"From Now On, Showtime!" filming begins in September 2021. Other cast and production details are yet to be announced.
The drama is slated to premiere in the first half of 2022.
