After teasing fans with captivating still cuts of Kim Yoo Jung and Ahn Hyo Seop, SBS introduces the supporting characters for the upcoming K-drama "Lovers of the Red Sky."
With less than two weeks from its highly anticipated premiere, the broadcast network continues to entice the viewers with striking visuals illustrating the historical story set during the Joseon era.
SBS Welcomes the Supporting Cast of 'Lovers of the Red Sky'
Over their official Instagram account, veteran stars such as Jang Hyun Sung, Moon Sook, Kim Kwang Gyu, Jo Sung Ha, Chae Gook Hee, and Yoon Sa Bong are expected to raise the tension between the lead stars in SBS' "Lovers of the Red Sky."
In the drama, Jang Hyun Sung, who recently appeared in the sci-fi series "Alice," will play master painter Han Geon.
Aside from his artistic skills, he is also famous for being the town's best painter.
Moreover, "Lovers of the Red Sky" is said to be the actor's first historical drama in four years.
He will be joined by Kim Kwang Gyu as Choi Won Ho, the owner of Baek Yoo Hwa Dan and the person who taught Hong Chun Gi, played by Kim Yoo Jung, to be a skilled painter.
"Lovers of the Red Sky" cast also includes Yoon Sa Bong as Kyun Joo Daek, the housekeeper and in charge at the Baek Yoo Hwa Dan household.
In addition, she also acts as Hong Chun Gi's mother, who cared for her since she was little.
Meanwhile, Jo Sung Ha, who recently appeared in "Navillera" as Song Kang's father, transforms as King Sung Jo.
During the Joseon era, the monarch is lauded for being known as their "founding star."
Joining him is Chae Gook Hee as Mi Soo, who dreams of being the state's secretary.
Her sharp eyes and intense stare suggest a possible tension in King Sung Jo's reign.
On the other hand, veteran actress Moon Sook is set to play the role of grandmother Sam Shin.

'Lovers of the Red Sky' Release Date and Synopsis
The upcoming historical drama is based on Jung Eun Gwol's novel, who also wrote "The Moon Embracing the Sun" and "Sungkyunkwan Scandal."
Now, "Lovers of the Red Sky" is set to hit the small screen helmed by PD Jang Tae Yoo, who is the person behind "Hyena" and the 2016 film "MBA Partners."
Set to be released on August 30, airing every Monday and Tuesday, the SBS drama follows the story of Hong Chun Gi, who is the only female painter during the Joseon era.
Despite her undeniable talent, she was born blind but miraculously managed to regain her sight.
Here, she meets her long-lost best friend, Ha Ram, played by Ahn Hyo Seop.
He is a blind astrologer who can read the stars despite losing his sense of sight.
Aside from SBS, viewers can stream "Lovers of the Red Sky" on OTT channels such as Vui and Viki.
