Kanye West has declared he is done “trading insults” with America’s Number 1 leader, President Barack Obama. But insists he felt used by the President.
In an interview with Hot 107.9 Monday, the “Yeezus” singer reiterated that he will no longer speak of the President’s name.
“I’m not gonna mention him no more, I’m past that,” the rapper was quoted as telling Hot 107.9 on Monday interview, according to Politico.
West added that continue doing so is “lowering his priority,” and therefore the singer decided he should put an end to any association even with the President’s name.
Kim’s fiancé added, “That’s out my thoughts. That’s lowering my priority of thinking at this point.”
The President and the singer has not been seeing eye to eye since West was described by President Obama a “jackass” during the infamous mic-grabbing incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
But they were not always at odds.
President Obama, claimed West, had asked the singer to support him when he first ran for Presidency in 2008.
“Oh, you talking about how he use to come and visit me and my mama and tell me that he’s about to run for president?” West said, added Politico.
The singer continued describing how the president has viewed pop icons such as himself.
West added, “I just think that we’re pop icons, and the president likes to use that type of thing just to be down and stuff.
It will be recalled that the President called him a “jackass” when he was speaking to the White House reporters at that time. Not knowing that his lapel was on and thinking he was speaking off the record, the President was quick to share his thoughts to members of media who asked his reaction when West grabbed Taylor Swift’s microphone while giving her thank you speech at the award’s event.
