South Korea is honoring veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung for her remarkable achievement in the entertainment industry.
Another milestone will be added to the award-winning star's accolade of achievement due to her contribution to the field of arts and the development of local pop culture.
The 74-year-old actress is selected as the recipient of the Golden Crown Order of Cultural Merit, known to be the highest title bestowed to personalities who showed significant input to culture and art.
The ceremony is in celebration of the Popular Culture and Arts Awards 12 year anniversary, commemorating the achievement of artists in different fields such as actors, singers, comedians, performers, writers, and more.
Joining Youn Yuh Jung is legendary folk singer Lee Jang Hee and late film producer Lee Chun Yeon who will also receive the Eungwan Order.
In addition, Bogwan Order recipients will be TV screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, who penned the mega-hit Kdrama "It's Okay, That's Love" as well as the late actor Song Jae Ho, and "Navillera" star Park In Hwan.
Presented on October 28 at the National Theater of Korea in central Seoul, the ceremony is organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency and is presented by the Culture Ministry.
Youn Yuh Jung's Historic Win at the 2021 American Academy Awards
The Golden Crown Order of Cultural Merit is the latest achievement of Youn Yuh Jung after her record-breaking win at the 2021 American Academy Awards.
The veteran actress and South Korea's pride took home an Oscar trophy for Best Supporting Actor for her impressive performance for the film "Minari."
Youn Yuh Jung's Oscar moment made history as the first Korean to receive an award from the said prestigious award-giving body.
Interestingly, she is also the second Asian to take home an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The first is Miyoshi Umeki, a Japanese American actress, and singer who starred in the 1958 movie "Sayonara."
The renowned Korean actress was able to beat some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Glenn Close for her movie "Hillbilly Elegy," Amanda Seyfried for "Mank," British star Olivia Colman for "The Father," and Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova for "Borat."

Youn Yuh Jung's Hilarious Oscar Acceptance Speech
Apart from her historic win, Youn Yuh Jung showed her charm through her acceptance speech.
First, he thanked the "wonderful" cast of "Minari" as well as the director Lee Isaac Chung.
Furthermore, she also acknowledges her fellow nominees and says that she feels honored to accept such great recognition.
She followed it by thanking her sons with a funny message describing them as someone "who makes me go out and work. ....This is the result because Mommy works so hard," she said while holding the prestigious trophy.
Lastly, she can't help but fangirl over the Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt who presented the award.
