Director Hwang Dong Hyuk confirms "Squid Game 2."

The South Korean PD gave updates regarding the blockbuster hit Netflix series and revealed their upcoming plans for the show.

During their appearance alongside the "Squid Game" cast at the screening in Los Angeles, the 50-year-old director and screenwriter expressed confidence for the much-awaited season 2.

At the press conference, he says they were left with no choice but to create another sequel for viewers.

"There's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!" he said.

However, he confirmed that there would be "Squid Game 2" but explained that concrete details about the second installment are still in the works.

"But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently."

In addition, he also hints at Lee Hae Jung's character, who would reprise his role as Seong Gi Hoon.

"I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back. He will do something for the world," the "Squid Game" director said, assuring that fans would get to see player 456.

At the height of the "Squid Game" craze, PD Hwang Dong Hyuk hints that the much-awaited sequel for the Netflix series is not a sure thing, adding that the director "don't have well-developed plans for 'Squid Game 2'" as of the moment.

Furthermore, he gets honest and reveals that creating the psychological thriller Kdrama "is quite tiring just thinking about it."

However, the director tells Variety that he is not closing its door and says that he would consider seeking help from "multiple experienced directors" and writers if he were to make the second installment.

To recall, the thriller Kdrama received an overwhelming response worldwide after its premiere last September 17.

It became a trending topic on social media as netizens lauded the intriguing storyline and not to mention the impressive lineup of stars.

Furthermore, the "Squid Game" craze continued for weeks and dominated Netflix's top 10 most popular shows list.

The success of Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo's Kdrama topped the streaming giant's chart in 82 countries, raking 111 million viewers since its debut.

With this, Netflix announced that the smash hit K-series is its "biggest series launch ever."

Interestingly, Bloomberg also cited that the nine-episode series is projected to gain $891 million in value.

The blockbuster hit Kdrama "Squid Game" follows the story of 456 debt-ridden participants and their goal to take home the whopping cash prize of $38 million; however, the catch is to survive the deadly children's themed game.
