JTBC's long-awaited drama for this year, "Snowdrop," starring Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo, held its press conference on December 16. Here are the highlights of the event that will give you a closer look on the drama and its cast.
Director Jo Hyun Tak Reveals the Meaning of 'Snowdrop'
On December 16, Jung Hae In, BLACKPINK Jisoo, and Director Jo Hyun Tak attended the "Snowdrop" press conference day ahead of its world premiere. Both looking gorgeous with their 'fits, the two lead stars amazed the press and viewers with their visuals and chemistry.
"Snowdrop" depicts the love story between Im Su Ho (Jung Hae In), a smart student at a prestigious university who accidentally enters into a women's university covered in blood. Eun Young Ro (Jisoo), a student at the university, finds and takes care of Su Ho despite the danger surrounding them.
Director Jo Hyun Tak first shared the meaning behind the drama's title. According to him, it was suggested by writer Yoo Hyun Mi. He said that a snowdrop is a blooming flower that penetrates the snow, and shows that spring is also coming.
He further explained the connection of it in the drama's storyline, "Inside the dorms, Jisoo and Jung Hae In experience an unexpected situation that they cannot handle, but within that harsh trial, there's still a hope. And that's how I was drawn to the title of the series."
How Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo End Up Playing as the Main Leads for 'Snowdrop'
Meanwhile, the director also shared the story of how he casted Jung Hae In and Jisoo for "Snowdrop." Jo Hyun Tak gets honest and confessed that Jung Hae In was an actor whom he looked forward to working with, even at the early stages of planning the project. The "D.P." star was at the top of the writer and director's priorities before.

He also revealed that Jung Hae In once rejected his offer, but he didn't give up and prepared the drama piece by piece and suggested it again to the actor. Fortunately, at that time, Hae In already agreed to do the project after considering many things.
When it comes to choosing BLACKPINK Jisoo as the female lead, the director shared that during the planning stage of creating the series, he and the writer were not still sure of what kind of person Young Ro is. They didn't think that a rookie actress would play Young Ro.
However, the moment he saw Jisoo, Jo Hyun Tak was sure that she was the perfect fit for Young Ro's role. He added that as soon as he met the idol-actress the director told Jisoo "You have to do it no matter what," since he really wanted her for the role.
Meanwhile, Jung Hae In shared that his trust in the director and writer made him choose "Snowdrop" as his next project. He confessed that since there will be lots of action scenes, Hae In worked out a lot to gain physical strength to do the heavy scenes.
As per actress Jisoo, before she went to the audition, the script was already given to her. While reading it, she easily immersed herself in Young Ro's character because of her bright charm and it is one of the things she wants to share with others.
Before the press conference concluded, the director spoiled the viewers that after the excitement of Young Ro and Su Ho's love story, they end up experiencing an extreme pain that a person cannot endure.
He ended his speech by inviting fans to watch "Snowdrop" and stay tuned on how the love between the characters can be a blessing and a curse.
"Snowdrop" premieres on December 18 at 10:30 p.m. (KST) on JTBC and Disney Plus.
