"Squid Game" star Oh Young Soo graced Rolling Stone Korea and talked about his experience and struggle as an actor.
Moreover, he also shared his thoughts about his record-breaking win at the Golden Globes.
The veteran actor wowed millions of viewers with his impressive acting skills after landing the role of player 001 Oh Il Nam in the blockbuster Netflix series.
Following his achievements, the 77-year-old actor appeared in Rolling Stone Korea's February issue.
Oh Young Soo Reveals Why He Almost Withdraw from Acting
Starting as a theater actor, he tried his luck in showbiz and landed several remarkable projects such as "God of War," "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring," and more.
Interestingly, he often portrays monk roles due to his experience with Buddhist plays.

With his 55 years as an actor, he confessed that he almost gave up on acting because of one incident.
Oh Young Soo tells Rolling Stone Korea that he suffered from health problems and considered it a slump in his career.
In 2009, he underwent an operation for stent implantation for angina, a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
He also had acute pneumonia but thankfully has overcome this by working out every morning to make sure that he stays healthy.
Despite a slump in his life, he continued acting and is known as one the veteran stars who is still active in theater.
Through his years in the industry, Oh Young Soo has done over 200 plays and is currently starring in "Last Session," which will run till March 20, 2022.
Oh Young Soo Reveals his Driving Force as an Actor
In his interview with Rolling Stones Korea, he left an inspirational and touching message to fans.
When asked about his driving force as an actor, he mentioned having "strength and tenacity."
He explained that passion and being tenacious to pursue it go hand in hand.
"There are many obstacles along the way and the way to overcome those things is strength," he said but noted that you have to have tenacity and endurance to push through.

The veteran actor gets honest about the difference between being a celebrity then versus now that everything revolves around technology.
He opens up how he got the part in "Squid Game," noting that he didn't even know what Netflix is and thought about not accepting the offer.
However, Oh Yoon Soo mentioned that it was his daughter who told him in detail how the show works.
At the time, he didn't even know that the "Squid Game" would be this big and created a worldwide craze.
Thanks to this, he took home the prestigious Golden Globes awards for winning Best Supporting Actor in the Television division.
Interestingly, he is also the first South Korean to win the said category.
