Katie Couric has been confirmed as the “new face of Yahoo.” The internet company’s CEO, Marissa Mayer announced Monday that Couric will be joining as global anchor for Yahoo.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR), which also first broke the news on Nov. 22, said in its latest report that Couric has already inked the deal with the company.

The news came following reports that Couric has already been working out an early exit from ABC News. The veteran TV anchor is currently hosting “Katie,” a joint project by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Couric’s syndicated talk show is currently on second season and the anchor has reportedly discussed an early exit with the show’s producers.

Countless news reports however, claimed there was a degree of uncertainties of whether or not that there will be Season 3 for “Katie.”

Meanwhile, the Yahoo CEO welcomed Couric who described her as “dynamic and savvy.”

"I’ve always respected Katie for her thoughtful, charismatic approach to journalism. From pivotal coverage of natural disasters and historic elections to the Royal Wedding and the Olympic Games, groundbreaking interviews with heads of state and leading tastemakers, her experience is unmatched,” Mayer was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.

In a separate statement, still cited by THR, Couric expressed excitement to be part of Yahoo.

“It's very exciting to be a part of a leading company at the intersection of content and technology,” Couric began, said THR, as she discussed her new company.

The ABC News anchor also noted what it will be like to work with Mayer and her team, said THR.

Couric added, “I have great admiration for Marissa Mayer and her team and their commitment to bringing news, entertainment and information to the Yahoo community across multiple platforms. Joining Yahoo offers a tremendous opportunity to reach people all around the world in the way that they're using and consuming media today.

It is said that Couric will continue hosting “Katie” until the end of second season. The TV personality is set to begin her work at Yahoo in early 2014.
