Ahead of the much-awaited world premiere of the Apple TV+ original series "Pachinko," American writer Kirsten Baldwin already predicts it will be the best drama this year!

Entertainment Writer Predicts 'Pachinko' as the Best Drama in 2022

The hype is stronger than ever! The drama adaptation "Pachinko,"a New York Time's best-selling novel, is finally premiering on March 25. Apart from local fans, international viewers are also on the edge of their seats for the much-anticipated Apple TV+ series.

In fact, Entertainment Weekly's journalist Kirsten Baldwin predicted that "Pachinko" might be the best drama this year.

In the review she published on March 23, she praised the long-awaited drama by calling it a "masterpiece." She also commended both Kim Minha and Oscar award winner Youn Yuh Jung for their "phenomenal" portrayal of the main character Sunja for "conveying an impressive spectrum of emotions."

"Pachinko" originated from Lee Min Jin's best-selling book. It follows the story of four generations of an immigrant Korean family. They show the struggles and hardships the family has to face for their hope and dreams.

What to Know More About Lee Min Ho and Youn Yuh Jung's 'Pachinko'

"Pachinko" will mainly be told from Sunja's point of view. She abandoned Korea to move to Japan and start a new life.

Apart from its gripping storyline, the drama also garners huge anticipation because of its stellar lineup. Lee Min Ho and Academy winner Youn Yuh Jung are headlining the drama.

"Pachinko" will have its world premiere on March 25 through AppleTV+ and will have eight episodes in total.

"Pachinko" marks Lee Min Ho's small screen comeback following "The King: Eternal Monarch" in 2020. It is also his first project with Youn Yuh Jung.

On the other hand, apart from "Pachinko," the "Boys Over Flowers" actor is reported to work with a new potential K-drama. In January, Lee Min Ho is offered to star in the sci-fi romantic-comedy series "Ask the Stars." He might team up with Gong Hyo Jin and Oh Jung Se in the project, once he accepts the role.

It also has an estimated production cost of 40 billion krw. The production team plans to build a real space for the drama.
