Ji Chang Wook, Choi Sung Eun Dish Out Reasons in Choosing 'The Sound of Magic'

"The Sound of Magic" is Netflix's newest fantasy series that depicts the magical story of magician Lee Eul (Ji Chang Wook) who appears in Yoon Ah Yi's (Choi Sung Eun) life and encourages her to dream.

Ahead of its magical release, the two actors posed and smiled for the camera in a photo shoot with W Korea Magazine. Ji Chang Wook and Choi Sung Eun also introduced their drama, their thoughts and more!

Ji Chang Wook reveals that "The Sound of Magic" reminds him of a tough part in his life that was difficult to handle. He said, "Yoon Ah Yi's struggles remind me of what I went through, so I chose this drama to show that it'll be okay one day."

Meanwhile, Choi Sung Eun admits that she chose the drama because of her fascination with Yoon Ah Yi.

"I want the world to know Yoon Ah Yi's story and how she rose despite being in a slump for a long time," the actress said. "I want the people of this generation to see the touching elements of Yoon Ah Yi and Lee Eul's beautiful story."

The actors talked about their beloved characters in the drama, and shared how they resonate with each other.

Ji Chang Wook focused on his tone, manners and body languages in order to perfectly display Lee Eul's magical personality.

Although he finds it quite comical, he calms himself down, saying, "I act or speak like this because it's Lee Eul."

On the other hand, Choi Sung Eun shared that she learned how to talk about her feelings and emotions, thanks to her new starring role.

"I find it difficult to communicate, but gradually, I learned how to improve myself," she said. "After slowly changing myself for the better, I became happier. This helped a lot in preparing for my role, since Yoon Ah Yi's emotions are quite intense like me."

In addition to that, the two actors spoke about how Choi Sung Eun cried on the last day of filming. Ji Chang Wook revealed that he cries easily, but he didn't shed a tear on set.

"If you look at the world with an innocent perspective, it's easy to get hurt for no reason," he elaborated. "I hope Lee Eul lives without getting hurt all of a sudden like that."

Choi Sung Eun added that Lee Eul is someone whom Yoon Ah Yi, her character, is grateful for.

Lee Eul made Yoon Ah Yi realize many things that she tried to push away in her life. In particular, Lee Eul helped her start dreaming for things once again.
