While others like Namgoong Min bulked up for his K-drama "The Veil" or lose weight like Ji Chang Wook for his role in "Five Fingers", these Korean actresses chose to undergo major hair transformations for the character.

Playing the role of the fearless grim reaper in "Tomorrow," Kim Hee Sun surprised the viewers with her K-drama comeback.

Apart from her kickass character, the 44-year-old beauty ditched her long dark hair and opted for a chic hairstyle.

In the drama, Kim Hee Sun appeared with a vibrant pink short hair as she portrayed the hundred-year-old grim reaper Goo Ryun.

As noted by a media outlet, the actress spoke about her major hair transformation for the drama and pointed out that apart from it, her character also wears red eye makeup.

"I've never worn such hipster-like clothes in dramas before. And I've barely worn leather pants before. I'm doing everything I wanted to do with 'Tomorrow,'" she said.

The model-actress traded her cool and sexy aura for the nerdy athlete in "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo."

Probably Lee Sung Kyung's claim to fame in K-drama, she played the titular character for the 2016 rom-com series, working alongside fellow model Nam Joo Hyuk.

From having her long locks, the then-rising star chopped off her hair and sported a chin-length hairstyle with full bangs.

Kim Bok Joo styled it with a red clip, especially during her date with Jung Joon Hyeong. For Lee Sung Kyung's new drama, she still has the iconic fringe but chose to have her hair long to play PR team leader Oh Han Byul.

K-drama royalty Jun Ji Hyun recently returned to the small screen with the "Kingdom" spinoff.

Netflix's "Kingdom: Ashin of the North" featured the actress with surprisingly short hair as she plays the mysterious woman who is the reason behind the kingdom's downfall.

During the press conference for the series, Jun Ji Hyun surprised the crowd with a sleek bob-cut hairstyle, exuding a boss girl vibe.

The actress appeared with short hair and side swept bangs for her role as Cha Soo Hyun in the 2018 K-drama "Encounter" with Park Bo Gum.

As usual, Song Hye Kyp flaunted her sweet and youthful beauty by rocking her short hairstyle.

Kim Go Eun

The 30-year-old actress had to match the webtoon character to portray the titular role in "Yumi's Cells."

Although the original character had blonde hair, Kim Go Eun opted for a full fringe with chin-length hair for the K-drama.

Interestingly, viewers also saw the actress had her hair short in the fantasy series "Goblin."
