Lee Joon continues to make waves in K-dramaland with his new series "Bloody Heart" with Kang Ha Na and Jang Hyuk.
The latest K-drama is a historical-romance series that follows the story of a soon-to-be king who chooses to abandon the woman he loves in order to survive.
In the drama, the MBLAQ member took on the role of Lee Tae, the son of King Sunjong, who is set to take his throne and become the new ruler of Joseon.
During the drama's online press conference, the 34-year-old heartthrob spoke about his thoughts about "Bloody Heart" and his role as the king.
Lee Joon Confesses Having Fear Starring in Historical K-drama
As noted by a media outlet, Lee Joon described his character as someone who will do everything to reach his goals, even if it means he has to sacrifice something important to him.
Since "Bloody Heart" is the actor's first-ever historical K-drama, the singer-actor revealed that he had doubts working in this kind of genre.
Lee Joon explained that historical K-dramas are known for being one of the challenging types of series, but he is ready to overcome it.
"I had a fear about historical dramas. It might be hard, but I wanted to overcome it and take on the challenge," he said, hence the reason why he decided to be part of the KBS drama.
As for expressing Lee Tae's feelings, Lee Joon shared that he "contemplated a lot about how" he could show the character's "complex inner emotions."
To do this, he focused on Lee Tae's conflicts in life involving his family and loved ones.

Despite his worry about how he'll portray his character, the actors' and the team's hard work has paid off after "Bloody Heart" episode 1 premiered with a solid start.
'Bloody Heart' Episode 1 Viewership Rating
As noted by Nielsen Korea, the KBS' newest historical K-drama garnered an average nationwide rating of 6.3 percent, which is a good start for a pilot episode.
Released on May 2, the Monday and Tuesday series gained positive responses from the viewers, which made Kang Ha Na, Jang Hyuk, and Lee Joon's new drama the most-watched series in its time slot.
Aside from the trio, "Bloody Heart" includes a spectacular cast lineup as it features Park Ji Hyun as queen dowager Choi Ga Yeon, Ha Do Gwon, Choi Ri, and the "Squid Game" villain Heo Sung Tae as minister of war Jo Won Pyo.
"Bloody Heart" is Lee Joon's project after starring in Netflix's "The Silent Sea," where he played the villain astronaut Captain Ryu Tae Suk.
He also starred as the antagonist in the thriller fantasy K-drama "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls," starring Lee Jin Wook and Kwon Na Ra.
In the tvN series, Lee Joon took on the role of villain bulgasal, Ok Eul Tae. Viewers lauded his chemistry with the protagonist Lee Jin Wook as they portrayed the good and evil creatures.
