IU was deeply moved by co-star Song Kang Ko at the press conference for the upcoming movie "Broker."
The singer-actress shared her experience and what it's like working with the award-winning actor.
IU, whose real name is Lee Ji Eun, is among the lead cast of the star-studded drama film directed by the renowned Japanese filmmaker Koreeda Hirokazu.
"Broker" cast includes Kang Dong Won, Bae Doona, and "Times" star Lee Joo Young.
The Koreeda Hirokazu-directed film highlights the story of baby boxes or the temporary shelter for babies who their mothers abandon due to difficult circumstances.
In the star-studded film, IU plays the role of So Young, a young mother who had no choice but to put her infant in a baby box. She then unexpectedly meets Sang Hyun, portrayed by Song Kang Ho, and Dong So, played by Kang Dong Won, who act as "brokers" or the person who finds welcoming adoptive parents to babies left on the baby box.
During the media conference for Cannes Film Festival 2022, where the movie was selected as a contender for Palme d'Or, IU revealed a touching incident with a fellow cast, Song Kang Ho.
IU Shares Unexpected Remark from Veteran Actor Song Kang Ho
In an article cited by SBS News, IU revealed how she was touched by Song Kang Ho's encouragement and heartfelt words during the filming of their movie.
Song Kang Ho began by sharing that IU had a scene "where she had a conversation with the two detectives," referring to Bae Doona and Lee Joo Young's characters. He was amazed at how the singer-actress portrayed with a "meticulous acting technique but also conveyed the exact emotions of the character."
The veteran actor also added that the particular scene required IU "to express many different and complex emotions," noting that her performance was "great" and revealed that he "had to bring her aside to give her praise. It was that great."

Interestingly, Song Kang Ho mentioned that it was not something that he does, even saying that fellow lead actor Kang Dong Won has never gotten such praise from him.
With the revelation of the veteran actor, IU shared that she will treasure the experience and nice words from her co-star.
"That very moment will leave a strong impression on the rest of my life," she said.
IU Cries After Hearing Song Kang Ho's Praise
In addition, the "Hotel Del Luna" star also mentioned that she cried upon hearing those touching words from the award-winning actor.
It was during the cast, and the whole team wrapped up the scene and saw Song Kang Ho was waiting for her.
"I quickly ran to him, and he told me, 'I monitored your scene, and it was very well done.' To me, the memory of him telling me that was so touching, like a scene from a movie," she said, adding, "Not only did it bring me to tears, but I had to call my parents to boast about it."
IU, Song Kang Ho, and the rest of the team are in France to prepare for the start of the Cannes Film Festival 2022, where "Broker" is among the Korean movies invited for the annual event.
On the other hand, the Koreeda Hirokazu-directed film will have its big-screen debut on June 8.
