After his 18 month hiatus, Kim Jung Hyun might be returning with a new drama.

In an exclusive report cited by Sports Chosun, the 32-year-old actor is courted to join the medical fantasy series.

As obtained by the media outlet, Kim Jung Hyun's agency Story J Company confirmed that the actor had been offered to join as the lead star.

"Kim Jung Hyun received a proposal for "The Season of Puppets" and is considering it," the agency shared.

The upcoming MBS series focuses on a grim reaper's journey in the world of the living.

Every after 99 years, he is set on a 49-day sabbatical. However, on his recent vacation, he unexpectedly crossed paths with a mysterious woman and falls head over heels.

If Kim Jung Hyung accepts the offer, he will play the vicious grim reaper, a.k.a the angel of death.

He is known as the highest-ranking guide of the underworld, but his fellow grim reapers are uncomfortable being around him because of his cold and cruel personality.

Following the news about Kim Jung Hyun's new drama, fans couldn't help but gush over as they expressed their excitement about his comeback.

The South Korean heartthrob is best known for his role in "School 2017," where he earned a nod as Best Actor at the prestigious 54th Baeksang Arts Awards as well as the 2017 KBS Drama Awards and the 1st The Seoul Awards.

Interestingly, the coming of age series was followed by another lead role in "Eulachacha Waikiki" and the mega-hit series "Crash Landing on You" with Hyun Bin, Son Ye Jin, and Seo Ji Hye.

His last K-drama was the 2020 historical series "Mr. Queen" with Shin Hye Sun, where she was nominated as Best Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards. At the time, the drama's viewership rating was soaring, reaching an all-time high every episode.

Unfortunately, Kim Jung Hyun was struck with a massive controversy involving his ex-girlfriend, Seo Ye Ji.

In 2021, Dispatch Korea revealed that the "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" actress was manipulative and controlled his behavior towards the female lead of his K-drama "Time," which was Girls' Generation's Seohyun.

As obtained by various outlets, Seo Ye Ji prevented her boyfriend from doing skinship scenes.

Months after the controversy, the actor broke his silence and apologized for his behavior.

Over Kim Jung Hyun's Instagram, he captioned his post with a lengthy statement saying that he has been contemplating on his actions.
