GOT7's Jinyoung shares his thoughts regarding his current K-drama "Yumi's Cells 2" and his growth as an idol-actor. The 27-year-old star graced Arena Homme Plus Korea's latest issue, where he gets candid about his career and life. The singer-actor, whose real name is Park Jinyoung, reprised his role as Yoo Babi in "Yumi's Cells 2" opposite Kim Go Eun.
GOT7's Jinyoung on Playing Yoo Babi in 'Yumi's Cells 2'
As obtained by an outlet, during his interview with the Arena Homme Plus Korea, Park Jinyoung was asked about the challenges he encountered filming for "Yumi's Cells 2."
"I couldn't turn my back on the fans of the original work," he said, adding, "However, if I was conscious of the webtoon reader's gaze, I don't think I'd be able to act as well as I could have.."
To recall, GOT7 Jinyoung's role was initially introduced mid-way through "Yumi's Cells" season 1 as Kim Yumi's neighbor and officemate.
However, he became Yumi's boyfriend in season 2 after her split with Goo Woong, played by Ahn Bo Hyun.
Viewers loved the on-screen chemistry between GOT7's Jinyoung and Kim Go Eun, sparking heart-fluttering moments in every episode.
However, the K-drama gained mixed reactions from fans after the webtoon-based series illustrated how Yoo Babi's feelings were easily swayed.

At the time, viewers pointed out that what Yoo Babi did was unacceptable after breaking Yumi's trust. Some raised their dissapointments, saying that it is a form of cheating and should not be tolerated.
As GOT7's Jinyoung continued his interview with Arena Homme Plus Korea, he also mentioned what he disliked about his character in "Yumi's Cells 2."
For the singer-actor, it was the part where he got confused about his feelings for Yumi.
"The part where there's an earthquake in Babi's cell village because he starts to have feelings for the intern Da Eun," he explained.
As depicted in the K-drama, Yoo Da Eun, played by Shin Ye Eun, was mesmerized by Yoo Babi's charm. The two became close since they lived in the same neighborhood on Jeju island, where Babi was relocated for work.
The second season featured how the couple dealt with the crisis due to long-distance relationships.

Park Jinyoung debuted in January 2014 as a member of GOT7 with their first song, "Girls Girls Girls."
A year later, he had his acting debut with the star-studded cast of "Dream High 2."
Interestingly, GOT7's Jinyoung tells Arena Homme Plus Korea about the K-drama that fueled his drive to do well as an actor. It was the 2015 series "My Love Eun Dong," which stars Joo Jin Mo and Kim Sa Rang.
"I was sure of [my passion] while acting as Park Hyun Soo in 'My Love Eun Dong.' It was my first time playing a character with an independent narrative," he said, adding that it was fun playing the character.
After "Yumi's Cells 2," the singer-actor is courted to join the cast of another webtoon-based series, "The Witch," with Roh Jeong Eui of "Our Beloved Summer."
