The upcoming drama series "Curtain Call" will have a new lead after Oscar Winner Youn Yuh Jung declined the role.
According to an outlet, veteran actress Go Doo Shim has been cast as one of the main characters in the KBS2 series.
Go Doo Shim Stars in Upcoming Drama 'Curtain Call'
Although it was initially offered to the "Pachinko" star, Go Doo Shim will be taking over the role of Ja Geum Soon.
In the upcoming family drama, the 71-year-old actress will portray the founder and head of a leading hotel chain in Korea, Hotel Paradise.
"Curtain Call" follows the story of an elderly woman from North Korea who meets a theater actor posed as his grandson. With not having much time left, she wanted to fulfill her final wish.
It can be recalled that the award-winning Youn Yuh Jung was initially offered to play the role of the matriarch Ja Geum Soon but reportedly declined the drama with the equally talented Go Doo Shim stepping in as the new lead.

"Curtain Call" is supposed to be her next project after the hit series "Pachinko" however, she will star in another project and will return to the big screen with an upcoming movie "Dog Days" with Yoo Hae Jin, "Money Heist Korea" stars Kim Yoon Jin and Lee Hyun Woo and more.

Viewers could expect a top-notch performance from Go Doo Shim, who is also known as the "nation's mother" as she stars alongside Kang Ha Neul who took the role of Yoo Jae Heon, a theater actor who will pretend as Ja Geum Soon's grandson, Moon Sung.
Joining the veteran actress and Kang Ha Neul are Sung Dong Il and Ha Ji Won.
Moreover, viewers will also get to see a special appearance from Na In Woo, Girls' Generation's Seohyun, and "Remarriage and Desires" villain, Jung Eugene.
Interestingly, Ha Ji Won's character Se Yeon was initially offered to Son Ye Jin. It is safe to say that the "Crash Landing on You" star turned down the offer because of her pregnancy.
"Curtain Call" is directed by Yoon Sang Ho of "Bride of the Century," "River Where the Moon Rises," and "Jinxed At First," and penned by "The Target" and "Zombie School" screenwriter Jo Seong Geol.
With the confirmed cast lineup, the upcoming KBS2 K-drama is slated to premiere in the second half of the year.

OG K-drama viewers often saw Go Doo Shim in various series playing grandmother or mother roles.
Her last K-drama was the star-studded healing drama "Our Blues" and played the role of Hyun Choon Hee, one of the locals in the small town.
Besides this, some might even recognize her as Ahn Eun Jin's grandmother in "The One and Only," and Kang ha Neul's grandmother Kwak Duk Soon in "When the Camellia Blooms."
