The finale episode showcases the ups and downs of Red Velvet's Joy and Choo Young Woo's character as they began their long-distance relationship.

After weeks of being in the countryside of Heedong, the veterinarian needs to return to his clinic in Seoul, leaving the female officer in the small town.

'Once Upon a Small Town' Cast

Released on September 5, the 12-part episode K-drama stars Red Velvet's Joy as the local officer, Ahn Ja Young who harbors secret feelings towards the city-based veterinarian Han Ji Yul, played by Choo Young Woo.

He temporarily moved to Heedong as per the request of his grandfather to look after the hospital while he is away.

In the feel-good K-drama, "Once Upon a Small Town" also welcomes Officer Ahn's best friend, Lee Sang Hyun, portrayed by Baek Sung Chul.

Just when Ahn Ja Young and Han Ji Yul thought that they were busted, it turned out that a local saw Yun Hyeong, Han Ji Yul's friend dating assistant Lee.

Here, the secret couple realized that it was not just them who planned to keep their relationship a secret.

In a heart-to-heart talk, Han Ji Yul warned his friend to take things seriously with assistant Lee as she is such a nice person.

Yun Hyeong tells Han Ji Yul that he wouldn't dive into a long-distance relationship and drive for hours if he is not serious with assistant Lee.

As Han Ji Yul and Ahn Ja Young continue their relationship under wraps, they planned to have their first movie together in a nearby theater during the busiest time of the day so they wouldn't get noticed.

Unfortunately, both had immediate commitments at work to attend but Ahn Ja Young still insisted on seeing Han Ji Yul.

Out of anger, she had a little bit of alcohol and went straight to the municipal hall where Han Ji Yul was waiting for him.

However, instead of seeing Han Ji Yul, he made an announcement that they are dating and wouldn't be always available from now on.

Interestingly, the local elders revealed that they knew that you are dating even before Ahn Ja Young made the announcement.

In "Once Upon a Small Town" episode 12, it showcased the struggles of the couple being in a long-distance relationship.

Now that Han Ji Yul works in Seoul while Ahn Ja Young in Heedong, they made arrangements on how they could see each other from time to time.

Interestingly, Ahn Ja Young was surprised that Han Ji Yul had a surprise visit to the countryside. What's more interesting is that he decided to work at his grandfather's veterinary hospital for good which means no more LDR for the both of them.
