There's no doubt why Kim Hae Sook is among the beloved K-drama mothers as the veteran star captivates viewers with her endearing roles.
The 66-year-old star has appeared in over a hundred K-dramas and films with most of them playing "ajumma" which means aunt, or "halmoni" or grandmother.
Interestingly, this is the reason why Kim Hae Sook has earned the title of "The Nation's Mother" for her various K-dramas portraying maternal roles.
From Bae Suzy's loving and caring grandmother in "Start-Up" to the wealthy mother of Yoo Yeon Seok in "Hospital Playlist" and of course the CEO named Park Rosa in Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye's 2014 K-drama "Pinocchio."
However, in her latest series, Kim Hae Sook portrays a totally different character.
The veteran actress took the role of the antagonist, Queen Dowager Cho in the historical K-drama "Under the Queen's Umbrella."
