The newly released series "Island" and "The Glory" welcomed 2023 with new achievements as both dramas topped the global content rankings.

Song Hye Kyo & Kim Nam Gil Make Successful Comeback With 'The Glory' and 'Island'

Netflix's original series "The Glory" starring Song Hye Kyo, and TVING's original drama "Island" starring Kim Nam Gil, have been listed at the top of the content service, drawing attention.

According to Flex Patrol, an online content service ranking website on January 2, "Island" and "The Glory" ranked 10th and 5th in the world in the Amazon Prime Video TV Programs and Netflix, respectively, as of January 1.

Both Korean dramas achieved successful results just two days after their release on December 30, 2022.

'The Glory' Ranks First on Netflix Week During Its Release

Song Hye Kyo plays the role of Moon Dong Eun in "The Glory." This follows the story of the main character who suffered school violence risking her life and revenge against the perpetrator. It is writer Kim Eun Sook's first revenge and first youth-grade drama, consisting of 16 episodes.

Part 1 which consists of eight episodes already begun airing on Netflix, while Part 2 is expected to be released in March 2023. Since many were anticipating Song Hye Kyo's acting comeback, fans abroad exhibited their support for the actress, which resulted in "The Glory" ranking first in 10 countries including Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, and Venezuela.

Meanwhile, TVING's star-studded horror drama "Island," tells the tragic life story of Van (Kim Nam Gil), who fought against evil alone for thousands of years on the Island of Jeju. It is a mysterious island created to trap evil energy. Lee Da Hee and Cha Eun Woo also participate in the drama.

In terms of ranking, "Island" ranked first in five countries namely, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The fantasy-horror drama ranked second in these regions namely Singapore, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Malaysia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
