Yoo Ah In promises to "live a healthier life" and apologized for his action after getting caught up in a drug scandal. He spoke about the controversy for the first time after appearing before the authorities for an inquest over his involvement with illegal drugs.
On March 27, the award-winning star voluntarily came to the police station, along with his legal counsel, but initially refused to answer questions from the media.
After a 12-hour private summon investigation, the "Seoul Vibe" star spoke in front of the media and expressed his thoughts about the controversy.
Since the news broke in February, Yoo Ah In is tight-lipped about the issue; however, for the first time, he personally updated the public regarding the investigation and reveals what he has been doing since the investigation started.

As obtained by a news outlet, the South Korean top star says that he is "hesitant" to tell the public how the investigation went since the probe is still ongoing however, he mentioned that he "told the truth" as far as he could tell.
Due to the controversy, he felt like he has "fallen into a swamp of self-justification" and that his "deviant behaviors won't harm anyone."
With this, the actor expressed his apology for disappointing his fans who supported him since his debut.
"I apologize to the fans who supported me, whom I let down with my disappointing behaviors," he said.
Moreover, Yoo Ah In also asked for forgiveness for not giving comments or addressing the issue earlier. As explained by the actor, he thought it may be uncomfortable for some to see him in a different light.
"I want to take this as an opportunity to live a healthier life that I haven't lived before," he added.

In February, news broke that Yoo Ah In will be investigated by the police for suspicion of habitual usage of propofol, a sedative, and anesthetic used before the surgery.
He underwent various tests which include urine and hair strand tests and found out that he is positive for four types of drugs - marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine.
In addition, authorities have conducted search and seizure warrants and also barred him from leaving the country.
As a result, the drug scandal greatly affected Yoo Ah In's career.

Besides his advertisements being removed by brands, Yoo Ah In's upcoming K-dramas were also affected by the controversy.
Following his decision not to appear in "Hellbound 2" and reprised his role as cult leader Jung Jin Soo of The New Truth, the premiere of his K-drama with Ahn Eun Jin will be postponed.
Netflix recently announced that "Goodbye Earth" will halt its release date in light of Yoo Ah In's drug charges.
As obtained by a news outlet, a representative from the streaming giant says they have "decided to tentatively postpone the release of "Goodbye Earth"' and will inform the public regarding the changes in the future.
The same goes for Yoo Ah In's sports theme movie "The Match" after the production company ACEMAKER and related affiliates have "decided to temporarily postpone the release."
