Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung Headline 'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2
After tvN confirmed the return of "Arthdal Chronicles,", the production staff announced that Sog Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won would not reprise their roles.
According to a media outlet, the South Korean hearthrob and the "My Liberation Notes" star
have declined to return for the second season due to scheduling conflicts.
To recall, Song Joong Ki plays Eun Seom, the son of Asa Hon and Neanthal, and the twin of Saya. Meanwhile, Kim Ji Won took on the role of Yeol Son's daughter, Tan Ya, the successor of Great Spiritual Mother of the Wahan.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that they have starred in a K-drama. They headlined the smash hit K-drama "Descendants of the Sun" along with Song Hye Kyo and Jin Goo.
On the other hand, following the news about Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won's decision regarding "Arthdal Chronicles" season 2, Studio Dragon, the production company behind the fantasy series, announced that they are offering the role to Lee Joon Gi.
As for Tan Ya, they selected Shin Se Kyung to play the role.
Weeks after the update was announced, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung confirmed their appearances.
At the time, tvN targets to release "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2 sometime in 2023, as there have been delays regarding the production, which was supposed to start in the second half of 2020 but was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
