'The Good Bad Mother' Becomes Most Popular Weekday K-Drama in First Half of 2023
Based on a report cited by a news outlet, with the number of dramas being released this year, the media pointed out the changes in the performance of these Korean weekday series.
When it comes to ratings, these K-dramas have not been recording any significant improvement, yet these notable weekday series are allowing the audience to enjoy more diverse genres, from crime, thriller, comedy, and emotional stories.
In the first half of 2023, Ra Mi Ran and Lee Do Hyun's "The Good Bad Mother" was the most popular weekday drama. It presents the story of Young Soon, who has no choice but to become a bad mother for the sake of her son, Kang Ho, a cold-hearted prosecutor who suddenly returns as a seven-year-old child after an incident.
"The Good Bad Mother" kicked off with a 3.6 percent rating similar to other weekday dramas. However, as the story progressed, it gained recognition from the viewers for its well-written script and notable actors who starred in the series.

ENA Channel's "Lies Hidden in My Garden" starring Kim Tae Hee and Lim Ji Yeon also received a nod from the audience, joining the list is the ongoing drama "Battle for Happiness."
"Battle for Happiness" deeply narrates the reality of people showing off their happiness on social media and competing with each other and the sad truth behind it. Each episode is packed with a thrilling twist that keeps the viewers immersed in the story. The drama is receiving praise for a well-made genre.
On the other hand, "Lies Hidden in My Garden," which also has a new intriguing genre, created a buzz alongside its top stars Kim Tae Hee and Lim Ji Yeon for their acting skills.
'Heartbeat' & 'Delightfully Deceitful' Delight Viewers With its Interesting Storylines
Adding to the list is KBS' ongoing fantasy-romance series "Heartbeat" which depicts the love story of a human and a vampire. It is being headlined by Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji An. Even though it has low ratings, many are looking forward to its episodes, thanks to the actors' performance and humor.
tvN's "Delightfully Deceitful," which is about to end its broadcast, is also gaining love for its awesome twist about the genius con artist.
As there are still several K-dramas to air in the second half of 2023, they are still in a battle for ratings-but they are striving for genre diversity with their own strategies. Furthermore, the audience is also raising expectations for more successful weekday series in the future.
