The number of movie goers in Korea is expected to become over .2 million for the first time.
On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, according to the survey done by the Korean Film Committee, this is the fist time that a number of people who visited theaters for one year will exceed .2 million. In addition, the number of people who visited theaters last year was 19,489,587, which shows the number of people who visited theaters this year is far exceeding the number from last year, considering the fact that there are still 15 more days to 2013.
Likewise, the main reason for the rapid increase of Korean movie industry is the Korean actors and actresses. With the increase of trust in Korean actors and actresses from the audiences, the number of people who visited theaters also naturally increased. In fact, out of ten most popular movies of 2013 as surveyed by the Korean Film Committee, eight of the ten movies were Korean movies. For the two international movies that ranked on the list, actors Robert Downey Jr. who is best known for his role in the "Iron Man" series and Brad Pitt ranked their names on the list.
Actors Song Kang Ho and Ha Jung Woo listed their movies in the second and third most popular movies of 2013, and fifth and eighth most popular movies of 2013, respectively, and succeeded in gathering 180,000 and 120,000 audiences, respectively.
