Lee Je Hoon Drama 'Chief Detective 1958' To Premiere In THIS Month
The award-winning actor is set to return to the small screen with another challenging character.
From being the anti-hero Kim Do Ki in "Taxi Driver," the versatile star will transform as the younger version of the titular chief inspector, Park Young Han. It is a newer take on the iconic series "Chief Inspector," which aired two decades ago.
Following the news regarding the amazing cast lineup and the first look of the action mystery-crime series, MBC dropped behind-the-scenes photos during the script reading.
On top of this, the broadcast network also unveiled the target release for "Chief Detective 1958."
In a post, MBC revealed that they are looking into releasing Lee Je Hoon's drama in April 2024, which will be the newest Friday and Saturday drama series. However, as for the exact date, officials are yet to confirm it.
Based on the long-running series, "Chief Detective 1958" is considered a retro-crime investigation drama with a hint of romance and joy.
Moreover, the 2024 series serves as a prequel to the classic Korean series "Chief Inspector."
As mentioned, Lee Je Hoon plays as chief inspector Park Young Han, who was originally portrayed by Choi Bool Am.
In the K-drama, he is depicted as a passionate detective known for his high arrest rate in Gyeonggi province. With a bigger opportunity, he goes to Seoul but faces tough challenges since the late 1950s were the start of South Korea's darkest time.
In addition, the "Chief Detective 1958" cast also introduces Choi Woo Sung, Lee Dong Hwi, and Yoon Hyun So, who will be members of Young Han's team.
Apart from a ton of talented stars joining the legendary series, an amazing director and screenwriter teamed up to produce a spectacular K-drama.
Helmed by director Kim Seong Hoon, he is the genius behind the blockbuster movies "Confidential Assignment 1" and "Rampant."
Meanwhile, screenwriter Kim Young Shin, who worked on "Old School Intern" and "Black Sun," took charge of the story.
With the rapport from the actor and team behind the upcoming drama, this raises expectations from viewers, who are looking forward to seeing Lee Je Hoon as a hot-shot detective.
