Song Kang Expresses Gratitude to Fans Through a Hand-Written Letter
In a report, Song Kang shared a handwritten letter greeting fans with an official fandom name, which he called "SONGPYEON."
He began his message by delivering news regarding his enlistment and recalled how his fans had supported him since his debut back in 2017.
"I think I am who I am because you are always there.
So many memories and years are passing by like a flash these days."
The "Sweet Home" star also shared that he has been "writing gratitude notes" before going to bed, and it includes being "grateful to SONGPYEON," most especially filling his 20s "with meaningful times including birthdays, anniversaries, fan meetings, etc."
Song Kang also mentioned temporarily leaving the industry for his military duties but promises to "greet" his fans "in person again with a grateful and healthy heart."
"There are many things I want to do when I join the military, and one of them is learning a new language. I'm not going to let the year and a half go to waste. I hope that SONGPYEON will also spend the time in a meaningful way, doing what you want to do and finding yourselves."
Lastly, Song Kang revealed the special meaning behind "SONGPYEON," which is a combination of his name "Song" and "Pyeon," which means being by one's side in Korean.
Song Kang Enlistment Details
Following the rumors regarding actors joining the military in 2024, Song Kang officially confirmed news regarding his enlistment.
In February 2024, the actor's agency, Namoo Actors, released a statement notifying the public about the "Nevertheless" star's upcoming activities.
In a report, the label said that the 29-year-old actor "will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier of the [Republic of Korea] Army on Tuesday, April 2."
Song Kang will be enlisting privately, adding that "there will be no official events.
This means that the actor has wrapped up his lineup of upcoming projects, which includes "Sweet Home" season 3, which will air in 2024.
He will reprise his role as the half-human, half-monster Cha Hyun Soo.
In addition, Song Kang joins Mnet's upcoming girl group survival show "I-LAND2: N/A" as one of the storytellers. Back in season 1, award-winning actor Namgoong Min was their previous storyteller.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old actor joins fellow celebrities NCT's Taeyong and Na In Woo, who will be enlisting this year.
