'Missing Crown Prince' Episode 5: Did Prince Do Seong Betray Lee Gun?
The crown prince was shocked after Prince Do Seong (Kim Min Gyu) betrayed him, with whom he had planned to punish Choi Sang Rok. It was then he realized that Lee Gun had fallen into a trap.
Prince Do Seong went to the palace before he met Lee Gun witnessed King Hae Jong collapse, and learned that Jung Jeon was tasked by Queen Min Su Ryeon (Myung Se Bin) to poison the king.
After knowing this, Do Seong drew his sword at Min Su Ryeon, but it turned out that he betrayed Lee Gun when Hae Jong and Jung Jeon's lives were at risk.
Lee Gun arrived at the prison with Gap Seok, they saw the royal inspector of the crown prince and Hang Sang Soo lying covered in blood from severe torture. They are falsely charged with delivering poison. Lee Gun reprimanded Prince Do Seong and apologized.
He couldn't help but worry about Hae Jong, Jung Jeon, and Prince Do Seong, so he did not let his brother go.
Choi Sang Rok Threatens Crown Prince Lee Gun
At the same time, Choi Sang Rok informed Yoon I Gyeom, Do Seong's maternal grandfather of his plan to make the crown prince confess on his own. In response, he went to Lee Gun and urged him to give up his life for his family. The crown prince scolded him and warned him of the consequences of his actions.
Lee Gun recalled the promise he made to his father that he would protect his mother and younger brother no matter what. He then requested to see Min Soo Ryeon and shocked her by saying that if Do Seong was named the crown prince, the Left Council would kill her and Choi Sang Rok.
He turned around and left, spewing out his resentment to Soo Ryeon.
Lee Gun Gets in Trouble To Save Himself & His Family
Eventually, with the National Office opened, Lee Gun appeared tied up with a rope, and the interrogation began, led by Yoon Jeong Dae. Despite the fierce questioning, Lee Gun firmly answered and told the truth. But he got into trouble when Yoon I Gyeom lied.
Moreover, Choi Sang Rok put Lee Gun in a dilemma asking if he claimed that the Queen Mother lied or admitted to the crime of attempting to assassinate her. They even threatened to coerce him.
Since he was trapped in their scheme, Lee Gun was helpless but determined to save his family.
At that time, Min Soo Ryeon requested a celebration as she finally gave Choi Sang Rok a higher position, which gave him the power to command the Vice Consul. Tension arose as to what kind of evil acts the two will show in the upcoming episodes.
