Netflix's "Hierarchy" received lukewarm responses from viewers following its debut on June 7.

Headlined by a slew of rising stars like Roh Jeong Eui, Lee Chae Min, Kim Jae Won, and more, the teen/mystery/crime series failed to capture the hearts of its audience.

In the Netflix K-drama, with a total of 7 episodes, viewers were given a look into the fictional prestigious school in South Korea, Jooshin High School.

Helmed by Bae Hyun Jin, the director behind "Big Mouth" and "Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow," with screenwriter Choo Hye Mi of "About Time," the story depicts the murder involving popular students, and the revenge-driven transferee Kang Ha (Lee Chae Min).

Unfortunately, it failed to land Netflix's Global Top 10, and garnered unfavorable comments for its "lackluster" plot.

What is Netflix's 'Hierarchy'?

In the series, Jooshin High School welcomes the new student, Kang Ha, who enters the prestigious school through their scholarship program.

However, his real reason for joining the school is to find the person behind his brother's death.

Amid his journey, he sees how the elite group rules the school and gets away from the bullying and harassment that they are doing.

Other than this, Kang Ha uncovers more secrets involving the top group, which includes Jung Jae I (Roh Jeong Eui), Kim Ri An (Kim Jae Won), Yoon He Ra (Ji Hye Won), Lee Woo Jin (Lee Won Jung), and Choi Yoon Seok (Kim Tae Jung).

Is 'Hierarchy' a Netflix Flop?

With only days after the premiere, "Hierarchy" failed to impress viewers despite its intriguing story. Despite showcasing a cast lineup with fresh faces, viewers were not drawn to how the story progressed.

Various outlets also mentioned the similarities between "Hierarchy" and the Netflix Spanish show "Elite."

On Reddit, netizens expressed their disappointment with how the story went.

Other than the huge comparison with "Elite" and "Pretty Little Liars," viewers mentioned the "very predictable plot" and "underwhelming storyline."

In addition to this, the cast members, particularly the lead stars, didn't have strong chemistry.

Furthermore, others also shared how "Hierarchy" showcased a "weak" and "one-dimensional" story, the reason it failed to keep viewers hooked on every episode.

Will There Be 'Hierarchy' Season 2?

The last episode of "Hierarchy" left viewers with a cliff-hanging ending as it featured Jung Jae I visiting her mom.

In addition to this, Jooshin High School welcomed their new principal, played by Oh Na Ra.

With this, there is an ongoing speculation that Netflix will produce "Hierarchy" Season 2, but it remains unconfirmed.

In addition to this, the possibility of "Hierarchy" Season 2 also depends on the response of the public to the show's first season.
