When Sex is Taboo: Scandalous New K-Drama 'Quiet Sales' Explores Door-to-Door Sale of Adult Products in a Conservative Era

JTBC's upcoming weekend drama 'Quiet Sales' has released its first teaser. It is directed by Jo Woong and written by Choi Bo-rim.

The series follows the story of four women who travel to a conservative rural town in 1992 to sell adult supplies door-to-door.

Kim So-yeon, who is a housewife, is the main character, joined by Kim Sung-ryeong, Kim Sun-young, and Lee Se-hee.

Han Jeong-sook, a reserved homemaker, and the women in her circle seek independence and friendship while selling unorthodox items in the town.

A teaser for the drama was released on September 5.

The women are getting ready to do their work by showing off some adult products as they put on their sales outfits.There's an air of anticipation as Han Jeong-sook hesitantly approaches a potential customer.

"I hope you enjoy without stress," she says while opening her bag. While some adults in the town keep the same calm expression throughout the sales presentation, the faces of the housewives who are about to see some taboo items change.

One woman praises a beaded necklace, saying "it looks pretty," and Han Jeong-sook responds, "It is underwear".

The scene underscores the tension between conservative values and the women's unapologetic mission to promote women's sexual wellness. 

Despite being labeled "vulgar" and receiving disapproving looks from their neighbors, the women persist, demonstrating the products themselves and offering free gifts to entice buyers

Each of the characters in the drama has a personal reason to see their selling venture succeed.

'Quiet Sales' is set to premiere in October.
