A recent revelation by popular Thai actor Jespipat Tilapornputt, known as Jes, has sparked controversy as he confessed to being under the influence of alcohol when filming an explicit sex scene in the hit BL drama 4Minutes.
The incident has raised concerns regarding the professionalism on set, and accusations of being homophobic have since been launched against the actor.
Drinking alcohol to act in difficult and sensitive scenes is normal. If you don't know, Samlin drank until he was completely drunk to perform this wonderful scene. If you think Jes is homophobic because he drinks then you are stupid and ignorant. #4MINUTES2024 #jesjpp pic.twitter.com/ahMcuDMufI

4Minutes, a BL drama that gained wide recognition due to its unique plot, tells the story of a university student who is granted the ability to foresee four minutes of his future but faces a complicated relationship with a popular surgeon.
Jes plays Tyme, a young and gifted surgeon who begins an intimate relationship with Wichapas Sumettikul's character, Great, in the series.
However, during a reaction video recorded on 4 September, Jespipat confessed to drinking alcohol while filming the explicit NC (not for children) scene, which, according to fans, was exceptionally explicit.
The first NC scene I ever filmed I drank alcohol to calm my nerves.

Is that a good idea or a bad one, I can't decide. Did it help? Would you recommend it to other actors? Do you still do that for NC scenes or how do you cope now?

I'm not saying it should be normalized. I'm telling people the truth. The reality is it is really difficult to film these scenes. I want to share my experience. Take it how you will. I'm just telling you the truth.

I hope it goes without saying that I don't condone any behavior that incites self-harm or threats of violence. I'm going to say this once, and hopefully I don't have to repeat myself. Do not Hate for me. https://t.co/my4HXvIifZ

These fans were the first to try to defend the actor by saying that the fact that the scene portrayed analingus might have been the key driver for his poor planning to drink beforehand.
Calling someone homophobic because check notes, needed a few drink to shot a scene he never done before in his career and a realistic one too may I add is a weird take ,but each their own I guess. Please call out the hundreds other artist too who done the same for that. https://t.co/OzOqHBuMek

As a result, the actors were accused of being homophobic, but fans are quick to defend him, saying that portraying explicit sex scenes, especially for the entire production crew, is very stressful. They claim that alcohol allows the actors to calm down and remain focused under tremendously great pressure.
A few days after Jespipat's confession, his co-star, Bible, also said that he drank before his first sexual scene. Bible, note though that artists should be careful with alcohol because it can help them perform under pressure.
