"Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born" is an up-and-coming series, and many fans have been awaiting its release due to the story being adapted from a beloved manhwa and the intriguing premise of two very different women trying to make it big at Yeonsong Gukgeuk, a type of traditional Korean musical theatrics based on pansori.

Kim Tae Ri, the lead star, has also already won the public during the highly successful release of "The Handmaiden," so choosing her for the role was generally applauded.

It was also known at that time that it was going to be a GL, that is, a girl love series. Naturally, the gear-up reached levels of hysteria in the hopeful anticipation of a sapphic romance.

However, recent reports suggesting that the female lead will remain heterosexual have resulted in a pretty significant backlash online. Many posted their distress at the apparent removal of the sapphic content.

Nonetheless, the recent presentation event on October 10th has taken place, and fans were allowed to see the chemistry between Kim Tae Ri and Jung Eun Chae on- and off-screen.

The pair looked gorgeous together, and many are apparently clamoring to see them on a date. "We're pushing the dating thing, are we?" marveled one viewer.

"They look so good together!" reads a typical message alongside affectionate images of the pair, and there appear to be numerous of them along these lines.

"While this doesn't in any way rub out the erasure of lesbians, I'll be rooting for the visuals," writes one fan.

The leads' gesture has started a new wave of heated discussions online before "Jeongnyeon" becomes officially available.
