Actress Lim Ji Yeon is at the center of controversy after her energetic reaction when actor Jung Woo Sung took to the stage to support him during the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards, which were held on 29 November 2024.

Jung Woo Sung, who – days earlier – became a father to model Moon Gabi's baby, made his first public appearance at the event while also winning for his film "12.12: The Day."

While receiving the honor, he spoke out on the recent scandal about his private life, apologizing for any upset he brought and saying that he would accept full responsibility for his son.

After Jung's speech, Lim Ji Yeon was photographed excitedly, hoping and applauding, which caused quite an uproar online. Her response was labeled as inappropriate by critics, especially since Jung's situation was so sensitive.

Another actress at the event, Hyeri, was praised for her more muted reaction.

Lim's Instagram quickly became filled with furious comments from fans who were upset after the awards show. The actor is embroiled in a personal scandal that has made several people supporting him earn the ire of social media users, with many of them accusing the actress of taking sides.

"Hope you take the time to find out what clapping for somebody actually refers to," one person said. "Going to unfollow. I don't get why you were so excited to watch Jung Woo Sung take the stage. It was such a huge turn-off," another said.

Although many criticized Lim, a few members of her fandom defended her, saying she was just doing her job as Jung is the founder and director of the management label who groomed Lim.

Although Lim Ji Yeon has not commented on the backlash, she has maintained posting on her social media, including updates about her character in the next JTBC K-drama, The Tale of Lady Ok.
