Actress Lim Ji Yeon is receiving some backlash after she publicly stood with actor Jung Woo Sung at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on November 29 (2024).

After the event, Jung announced he had a son with model Moon Gabi and Lim's encouragement of the actor led to plenty of criticism of her online.

The backlash was quick, with several angry Korean netizens turning their ire on Lim in support of Jung, whose past has come under fire.

She then became the subject of many comments on her social media accounts, with users calling her reaction problematic.

Lim recently opened up about the backlash in an interview following the conclusion of her little late-night K-drama, The Tale of Lady Ok.

"I didn't expect that reaction. I didn't even think about it, and it was 'in the blink of an eye.' It's ambiguous to talk about it this way or that way," she said to TenAsia.

"On the other hand, since it was a drama coming out, there were parts where I was cautious."

Korean netizens remain split on opinion. Jung's supporters flocked to the internet and came to Lim's defense, while many others shamed Lim for supporting Jung.

Some were annoyed the backlash was happening, while others argued that Jung should be held accountable instead of Lim.

One user in the online community forum, Theqoo commented, "Actresses are always the soft targets to bully, right? Ridiculous. Was it Lim Ji Yeon who told, 'Go have unprotected sex,' Jung Woo Sung, c'mon."

Another reasoned, "She may have missed the vibe. But people are overreacting."
