Every December, MBC honors the best and the brightest of the year's stars. This year Lee Seung Gi and Han Ji Hye were the hosts for the award ceremony.
This year's Daesang trophy, chosen by MBC, KBS and SBS producers, went to Ha Ji Won, star of the historical drama "Empress Ki."
"The trophy is in my hands," said Ha Ji Won upon winning. "But there are dozens of staff members who contributed to this drama. I offer this trophy to them. I want to thank the writer and the producer. I work with hard-working directors, staff members and the best drama professionals on the site. I want to present this trophy to the professionals who remain so enthusiastic even when we only need them for one scene a day."
Ha Ji Won seemed surprised by the weight of the trophy.
"Through this award I will strive to become an even better actress," she said. "I will work hard to become an actress who can relay stories from around the world. I will do my best to repay everyone next year for the year of love I have already received."
Ha Ji Won also won the popularity award, as did her "King 2 Hearts" co-star Lee Seung Gi. Suzy and Lee Seung Gi each won Excellence Awards and together won Best Couple Award for their work in "Gu Family Book."
Empress Ki also won a "Best Newcomer Award for Baek Jin Hee, who plays El Temur's daughter, and for writers Jang Young Chul and Jung Kyung Soon.
"The Queen's Classroom" won awards for its child actors Kim Sae Ron, Kim Hyang Ki, Chun Bo Geun, Seo Shin Ae, and Lee Young Yoo.
Oh Chang Suk won Male Newcomer Award and Jun So Mun won Female Newcomer Award for their roles in "Aurora Princess." Lee Sang Yeob won a Male Newcomer Award for his role in "Give Away Love."
Goo Hyun Sook won a Writer Award for his screenplay for "One Hundred Year's Inheritance," which was also named Drama of the Year.
Female Excellence in a mini-series went to Shin Se Kyung. Female Excellence in a special production went to UEE. Female Excellence in a soap opera went to Hong Soo Hyun.
Male Excellence in a special production went to Ji Chang Wook, while Male Excellence in a soap opera went to Yoon Jung Hoon.
Gold actor awards were given to Kim Sang Joon, Jung Bo Suk and Cho Jae Hyun. Gold actress awards were given to Kim Bo Yeon, Lee Hae Sook and Cha Hwa Yeon.
Scheduling conflicts kept nominated stars Moon Geun Young, Kwon Sang Woo, Song Seung Hun and Lee Jun Ki from attending the ceremony.
