Last December, Zhao's friend, as per Koreaboo, claimed that the actress had experienced physical and psychological abuse from her management company, which drove her health to deterioration.

She was later diagnosed with Dissociative Conversion Disorder, a condition that affects consciousness, memory, and motor functions.

Previous appearances had seen Zhao in a wheelchair, leading to concern among fans.

Zhao appeared on the first episode of her new reality show, Be Me, a travel show chronicling a journey through her healing process, on March 27.

The episode included child actor Fu Bohan, who followed her on her travels. In their conversation, he asked how she felt after taking medicine.

"If you [3P] take medicine, then you wouldn't feel any pain, but you can't [3P] retain your memory," Zhao told them.

When Fu replied that this meant she couldn't act, she confirmed, "Yeah, I can't retain memory."

Fu urged her to get some rest, saying, "Then do not film dramas. Rest well for a while."

The news has left fans in shock, but many have taken to the comments section to offer their support and urge the actress to focus on her health.

Zhao, who starred in Love Like the Galaxy and Hidden Love, has made no indication of when she will return to acting.
