A year in review at Apple Inc. reveals a slow start in 2013, but the Cupertino firm certainly ended the year with a big bang.

The major success of the iPhone-maker was the release of two new iPhones with breakthrough sales. An end of the year review for the a company that has turned itself around in more ways than one is reeling in benefits from its acquisition, new product releases and a deal with China Mobile that could seal the Chinese market for Apple Inc. The much awaited release of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s were flocked by consumers who were awaiting an iPhone at an Android price.

The company finally released an affordable iPhone, the iPhone c for sale in China. Pre-orders have been voluminous. Apple Inc's sell out of the new releases could not have come at a better time. Analysts had been spelling a disaster for CEO Tim Cook and his new team at Apple after consumers were anticipating a new iPhone following the launch of iPhone 5.

After former CEO, the late Steve Jobs exited from the firm, this is a first for Apple Inc.'s strong rise in profit figures, following the sale of 9 million units of the iPhone 5c, 5s during it debut weekend, Today's iPhone reports.

Apple Inc's timing couldn't have been better, looking back in hindsight. The pricing at $100 for the iPhone 5c is a competitive price with other smartphones and the classic iPhone 5 and its predecessors were saturated at high prices. Basically, the average consumer in China could not afford an iPhone and Apple's strategy to use low-cost materials gives it an advantage. The Calgary Herald calls it the most 'successful iPhone launch in history.'

Looking back at Apple Inc's acquisitions, the tech firm purchased WiFiSlam, expanding into mapping. Next in the line of acquisitions was Cue, a search engine/personal assistant software firm to enhance Apple's highly talked about Siri.
