Given the Japanese fan base for Park Yoochun and his "Three Days" co-star Park Ha Sun, their new drama should be a big hit in Japan.
A recent survey by Tsutaya, a Japanese DVD rental company, found that the most popular kdrama actors in Japan this year were Park Yoochun, who rated first place, then Park Ha Sun who reached second place. The survey results were based on the popularity of the dramas "Dong Yi," which stars Park Ha Sun as Queen Inhyun and "Rooftop Prince," which stars JYJ's Park Yoochun as a time-traveling prince.
Park Yoochun's popularity in Japan is not surprising since JYJ is very popular there and all of his dramas have been well received. Japanese audiences have seen and enjoyed "Rooftop Prince," "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and "Missing You." In fact, the singer and actor made his acting debut in the Japanese drama "Beautiful Love," playing a runaway heir.
Park Ha Sun is well loved in Japan because of her role in "Dong Yi," which has been a beloved kdrama in Japan since 2010. She debuted in 2005 in the drama "Love Needs A Miracle" and also appeared in a few films, including "The Last Blossom" and "Champ." She played Baek Ji Yoon in "Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek."
The stars' popularity was naturally good news for the producers of the upcoming drama "Three Days," which stars both Park Yoochun and Park Ha Sun. It's a match made in ratings heaven.
"The survey was very encouraging," said a representative of Golden Thumb Pictures, which is producing the new drama. "There have been love calls from overseas as a result."
The drama concerns the disappearance of the Korean president after three mysterious shots are fired. His bodyguard Han Tae-Kyung, played by Park Yoochun must find him and return him to the Blue House. To find the president, he must figure out who kidnapped him and why.
Park Ha Sun plays Yoon Bo Won, a detail-oriented police officer that helps Han Tae Kyung in his investigations. So E Hyun will play a SWAT Team agent. The drama will also star Son Hyun Joo and Jang Hyun Sung.
Shin Kyung Soo, director of "Deep Rooted Tree" will direct "Three Days." Kim Eun Hee, who wrote "Sign" and the crime thriller "Phantom" is the writer.
The drama will air in February after "You Who Came From The Stars." Japanese fans will be especially eager to see how their favorite kdrama actors ineract.
