Intel, Acer, Polaroid & Wikipad Jump On Android Bandwagon; Intel & Polaroid To Display At CES; Android Tabs To Cost As Little As $99

Android tablet manufacturer, Wikipad, has announced its entry into the mobile peripheral industry. The tech firm plans to unveil an add-on labeled Gamvice, which will carry console type buttons and analog stick controllers for tablets. This device can be used on Windows 8 and Android tabs.

The design offers a stretchable lock-in gadget that can safely attach to your tab. After taking on some criticism of the Wikipad 7, Fraser Townley, president of Wikipad told VentureBeat, "We value the opinions of our community," adding, "We heard from many people who either expressed love for the Wikipad 7 or who already owned an iPad or an Android or Windows 8 mobile device and wanted us to make a controller that worked for them. We are currently working on versions for Windows 8 and Android devices."

In other tablet news for the new year, Acer anticipates a launch of the A1-830 Androit tab in the first quarter. This 7.9 ich device hosts a 1024x768 display with an identical display ratio as the iPad mini, which would be 4:3. However, the entry level will debut only in Canada for $199 and may sell as low as $149 by the time it gets there, mobilesyrup.com reports.

With chipmaker Intel to unveil its Bay Trail T platform in support of Android in Q1, there may be a surprise Android tablet powered by Intel for less than $100, the price of the iPhone 5c in China - could be some competition there although most people prefer prefer large screens for easy computing and display. 7-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and displays above the 10-inch range will be on site at the CES.

Polaroid hasn't had much luck in the computing business, but it has made a valiant effort with the new launch of three versions of Kit-Kat powered Android 4.4 Q series tabs. The best part, all three of them will be on display at the CES tech extravaganza.
